  • The Foothills Parkway is only about 10 miles from our campground in Townsend, TN. It's 18 miles of fast sweeping curves.
  • Overlook on the Tail of the Dragon. A very popular rest stop for weary riders.
  • Fast bikes.
  • Hot Fuzz! A woman on a cruiser ran off the side of the road. She was already in the ambulance (behind the tree on the left). I was told she had a busted up leg. There were quite a number of crashed bikes on the Dragon on this day, cruiser and sport bike alike.
  • Parsons Branch Road is schedule to reopen later this summer. It's been closed since 2003 after heavy rains had washed out the road.
  • The ultimate destination, Deals Gap, end of the Tail of the Dragon, 11 miles, 318 curves. It's just the start of great riding in this area.
  • The Deals Gap Motorcycle Resort has recently expanded. They've remodeled the shop and added a large restaurant.
  • Cool pipeline I found off of some dirt road between routes 129 and 28 in North Carolina.
  • This dirt road brought me out at Fontana Village. I've been down here many times and had no idea it existed.
  • Cool dirt road I found after crossing Fontana Dam.
  • This split ended at a gate to Panetown Cemetery.
  • The road split, I can't go too far this way.
  • But this could be doable. As soon as I rounded the first bend, the roadway narrowed down to a steep path! Oh my!

  • I went looking for the other end of that closed road.
  • Looks like I found it.
  • I went down another dirt road, and found another gate.
